Our journey starts here…

EODF celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020.

This year we bring together our global community with the shared ambition to design sustainable organisations for the future.

We started with a BANG at our annual conference on 21-22 October 2020. With stimulating provocations from Marina Gorbis, Sola Osinoiki and more, we began our journey to ‘surf the waves of disruption’.

But it’s only just begun. Continue your design experience and join our 12 month journey of ‘adaptation and emergence’…

How the journey unfolds…

We will explore the global crisis of Covid-19, how it’s disrupted our environment, our organisation’s and ourselves.

We started with a two day conference in October 2020. From here, we pick up pace connecting with a series of highly interactive ‘touchpoints’. We will be guided and inspired by industry-leading provocateurs, case studies and wisdom from our community.

Our journey celebrates the magical conferences’ of the past and looks to the future as we adapt and evolve in different times.

Immerse yourself…

From the moment you join, you will enter highly interactive and immersive virtual sessions, powered by our ‘Network App’.

You’ll hear from provocateurs who will spark new thinking, engage in breakout spaces. You’ll connect, share and learn how others are responding to today’s challenges in the world of Organisation Design.

In true EODF style, there’s opportunity for informal networking; chat, connect, reminisce and plan your future collaborations.

Disruptive environments and operating contexts call for disruptive thinking. We have all experienced real and unpredictable shocks in recent months, and we invite our provocateurs to help us navigate both the present and future with their disruptive thinking. We will emerge with different ideas and examples on how to adapt, build resilience, and develop more sustainable organisations.

Breakouts & reflective space

Throughout the journey we will make space to breakout into smaller groups to carry the conversation on. We’ll also have reflective space in between sessions to share stories and learn from each other on how we’re adapting to disruption and designing for a more resilient and sustainable organisation.

Connect and grow your network

EODF exists for connection and networking. The content of our events is always rich, but the people are what makes the experience so worthwhile. Even though we’re going virtual this year, we will make time to connect and chat informally so you can continue to grow your network. Check out the ‘NetworkApp’ below and get connected to old and new friends.

Featured Provocateurs

We’ve lined up some industry-leading names to stimulate your thinking from the Virtual Conference on 21st and 22nd October 2020 and right throughout our journey to September 2021, offering the highest value provocation.

Upcoming featured provocateurs are listed here.

Touchpoint #5 – Complexity & Systems Thinking

1st April 2021

‘Black Swans’ here to stay.

We are living in a world of global complexity and uncertainty, events and situations that take us by surprise and have a major impact. ‘Black Swan’ events are here to stay. And we must start to perceive them in a different way. They present an opportunity to learn and adapt our systems to absorb oscillations from this bumpy road.

Together we explore with our provocateurs some of the complexities that businesses face today, including the realisation of Green’ and ‘Sustainability’ agenda, from three perspectives: the Global landscape, National and local levels. We will delve into the shifting mindsets of leaders and how ‘Complex Adaptive Systems’ (CAD) is a useful Systems Thinking Methodology in helping to cope with the Black Swan and other less obvious complexities faced by businesses and society of today and tomorrow.

Violeta Bulc

Violeta Bulc is Curator of Ecocivilisation, a rewarded innovator and consultant, ex-EU Commissioner for Transport and was Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Slovenia.

Violeta has a rich and diverse background, with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Informatics and a black-belt in Tae-Kwan-Do and Hap-Ki-Do. We’re hoping Violeta sticks to talking about Black Swan events and doesn’t need her black-belt for this EODF event!

Violeta has an affinity to innovation and has published many books and articles. Her latest book is ‘The Rythms of Business Evolution’.

Listening to Violeta you will learn about:

  • the complexity through the big lense – global and european dimension
  • looking into the future of bringing Green and Sustainability agenda to life
  • the future of systemic leadership and development of organisations from Working, Learning, Thinking to Conscious systems.

Dr Mike Jackson, OBE

Mike is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Hull and editor-in-chief of Systems Research and Behavioural Science.

Mike has worked in the civil service, in academia and as a consultant. He has received many awards, two honorary degrees and has been a visiting professor at numerous international universities, and in 2011 received an OBE for services to higher education and business.

We’re delighted to have Mike share his wisdom with EODF.

Listening to Mike you learn about:

  • the role that ‘Critical Systems Thinking’ (CST) can have in help to deal with, make sense of complex situations
  • the role of CST as an effective technique in both diagnosis and design
  • how the CST paradigm explores the social dimensions of a problem context in order to provide richer and more meaningful solutions.
