This coming year we will start what we are going to call “oldies but goldies” once per quarter. The idea is to revisit some of our favorite older books and if possible seek out the authors to join, as we have done in the past. Think books from the 1990’s and 2000’s that have influenced our thinking and the field of Organization Design, from Trist to Drucker and back.

Our inaugural book is called “The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations” by  Ori Brafman and Rod A. Beckstrom, 2006.

The book explores what happens when starfish take on spiders, and reveals how established companies and institutions, from IBM to Intuit to the U.S. government, are also learning how to incorporate starfish principles to achieve success.
